Promo video: Grey's Anatomy 8x16

ABC has released a promo video for upcoming episode of Grey's Anatomy season 8 episode 16 "If only you were lonely", guest starring Summer Glau as a nurse.

We see Summer's character toward the end of the clip, placing her hand on the arm of Doctor Owen, who is the on again/off again love interest of the doctor played by Sandra Oh.

Here's a few screencaps showing Summer's character :

"As Adele’s condition continues to deteriorate, Richard considers altering their living situation; an explosion at a local coffee shop results in a busy day in the ER for the doctors; Callie takes Meredith under her wing by helping her study for her boards; Lexie joins Arizona and Alex in peds, as they continue to care for intern Morgan’s premature son; and when Jackson snaps at a patient, Mark encourages him to find ways to relieve his stress. Meanwhile, Cristina lets her suspicions get the best of her."

Summer's episode of Grey's Anatomy airs next Thursday at 9pm on ABC.

Thanks for the video, i was disappointed to see no promo pics featuring Summer.

Also i think it's better to include the screencaps of Summer's arm because it serves the plot, i.e. a possible sexual tension leading Cristina to believe Owen is cheating on her.

Thanks for the promos! Its nice to see at long last something about Summers role in GA!

She is the most beautiful nurse I've ever seen, I imagine every patient gets instantly healed by her smile only biggrin

My only concern is the thing I'm always concerned about but there is nothing to be done now I'm afraid.

What I know so far is that Christina, played by Sandra Oh, was romantically involved with Owen, played by Kevin McKidd, but Sandra Oh had an abortion which upset Owen so much that they broke up. Since that time, their relationship (or ship) has been rocky to say the least. I believe they still have feelings for each other and that this is a significant story arc. I believe that Summer's character is involved in what Christina thinks is an affair with Owen. So this could mean that her role is that of a catalyst to help Christina to work out her feelings for Owen.

Christina is a completely self-centred, driven, and very ambitious doctor who is perhaps one of the most difficult characters to like on this show. She lives for her work. She is tough as nails and full of contradictions - complicated would best describe her. There may be a great deal of tension between Owen, Christina, and Summer's character if Summer is a sweet, nurturing, and compassionate person who is sympathetic to Owen. These characteristics will probably drive Christina mad with jealousy and since she is capable of anything (she is devious and unscrupulous), we could see a real cat fight. If this is a one episode show, Summer could get slaughtered. If Summer is around for a few more episodes (like Levin Rambin who played Riley in TSCC - 5 episodes), she could get into some interesting and compromising situations where she is positioned between these two very strong-willed and passionate characters. There are going to be sparks either way.

I saw your tweet...but only late this morning smile

Don't worry, i still follow you and we appreciate your great help for the Wiki; as i've said, there is many ways to help the Wiki and you're very helpful, even if fans are not necessarily aware of the good work you're doing for them.

Ok, is that enough to reassure you?

And don't understand GA's promos : the promo pics showed two dramatic scenes (as mentioned in the synopsis of the episode) while this trailer looks almost like a comedy wacko

The abortion that Cristina had was not Owen's baby but another character called Burke. Apparently, it is Christina's reluctance to have another baby that is causing Owen some grief.

I am amazed at the fan interest in the show and how much effort goes into group discussions and analysis of the plots. These fans are intense! I can only wonder what it would have been like if Firefly had been shown today. Would there have been as much activity? I suppose that since GA has been running for many years that the fan base has had time to lock in to this show. Hopefully, these fans will pick up on Summer's talent and they will want to see her again.

Right, i saw the intense activity of GA's fans while looking for more infos about Summer's appearance.

It appears to me that their comments are primarily based on the the relationship between the characters, wether it is love or hate or suspiscion; also GA asks questions about society problems which can be linked to everybody's life i guess.
As a fan of serialized scifi series, i'm more used to talk about the mystery plots and overarching storys than everyday life issues; even the Jameron ship was tied to big overarching mysteries.

Obviously, the two fandoms do not overlap but kudos to GA's fans for their dedication!

Remind me of SW fans BTW. Its frightening how much we can analyze an imaginary worlds society, economy, political conditions, history, biology, even physics!

Maybe its really that the long franchises allow this more with more material.

Another point about this show: the American preview focusses on sex. The Canadian preview focusses on death. What does that say about Canadians or more to the point, the view that the Americans have about Canadians?

Disclosure - I am Canadian.
