I bet you don't remember this contest released 3 months ago by SFX. Let me refresh your memory by reproducing what we wrote at the Summer Glau Wiki back then. Quote SFX is having its 21st century’s top 100 sci-fi icons contest : you have to type in your nominated character, like Cameron Phillips (TSCC) or River Tam (Firefly) for example and vote for it. The results will be published on a special issue of SFX Magazine, on sale at the end of July. You'll find pictures, along with words of wisdom from those responsible for creating and portraying the chosen characters. You're free to nominate your favourite characters from TV and cinema over the last 11 years (21st Century), meaning all characters played by Summer Glau are eligible A special edition of SFX magazine will be on sale on August 31 2011. At the moment we don't know the results but i have exclusive non-official informations about Summer's ranking. I give you these informations for what it's worth : Summer Glau should have two entries, one for Cameron Phillips at rank #16 and one for River Tam at rank #11. If these informations are confirmed, this is great publicity for Summer Glau because SFX is "The World's #1 Sci-Fi Mag", as they say on the cover. And we can expect photos and a legend. Update : SFX Top 100 Sci-Fi Icons results and UHQ Picts of Summer Glau on the News page. Update : the special issue of SFX Top 100 21st Century SF Icons will be in the stands on Tuesday 26 July! Quote What have we got for you in the latest special SFX Collection? Well, it’s more what you’ve given us – your votes for the greatest characters in sci-fi, fantasy and horror of the 21st century. Yep, a few months ago we asked readers of SFX.co.uk to vote for the fictional characters that really matter to you. Over 10,000 votes were cast, and now we have the results. The super-glossy, top quality collector’s magazine counts down from 100 to 1, complete with glorious photography and biogs of each one of the icons. There are also lots of exclusive interviews with the creators of these characters, whether they be the actors or the writers, including Stan Lee, Russell T Davies, Steven Moffat, Matthew Graham, Nathan Fillion and many more. Who’s won? Well, you may get a surprise. Or you may not. There’s only one way to find out… Summer Glau is on the cover, see close-up on the left above Spiderman. Given the size of Summer's picture on the cover of SFX Special, it does bode well for her ranking. I hope i was wrong when i told you exclusively that Summer was #16 for Cameron Phillips and #11 for River Tam. My guess is that Cameron ranks way before River Tam. Answer very soon. Quote (JoachimVR) John Hart (86) Right onJoachim! I must admit i don't know watch Torchwood. Is it worth watching it? And Summer Glau average's ((11+16):2) is better than James Masters's ![]() You can follow me on Twitter at @chrisdvanne Message edited by michelangelo - Thursday, 11-07-28, 11:46 |

Considering the weirdness of this entire list Cameron or River could very well be the winners. Seriously this list is so weird that the results are almost irrelevant. Jayne Cobb beat Batman? Harry Potter beat Gandalf? And I don't have problems with Mal, but I'm pretty sure that he isn't the biggest sci-fi icon when Captain Kirk is around for example. 1. Cameron Phillips 2. River Tam 3. Darth Vader This would sound more appropriate I think ![]() Summer Glau is so awesome, it isn't even funny! Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne! |

I'm always a little amused also when i see these results; at best it measures the dedication of one fanbase. Though i don't complain when Summer Glau wins one of these so it would not be fair to complain now. I have posted this list on another board and i can tell you there was almost a riot among members when they saw the results ![]() You can follow me on Twitter at @chrisdvanne Message edited by michelangelo - Wednesday, 11-07-27, 15:20 |

Quote (Blazius) Seriously this list is so weird that the results are almost irrelevant. Indeed, there is no way Sarah Connor can be #93 in that list! She should be at least in top 20 if not in top 10. Cameron: My brother says if you want to be good at anything, you have to practice every day. |

That UK list is very different from the similar lists we see in the US, indeed. This is why Doctor Who is omnipresent. You can follow me on Twitter at @chrisdvanne |
